Festive Loyalty & Rewards Drive

Clicks partnered with Hailr to educate users on how to maximise their Clicks ClubCard rewards and give away festive prizes.

Hailr collaborated with Clicks on its 2023 Clicks ClubCard Festive Rewards campaign. The objective was to engage with ClubCard members through an innovative medium, followed by rewarding them for their time and loyalty. Building on the success of the previous year's partnership, Hailr and Clicks once again joined forces for a two-month campaign during the 2023 festive season.

Campaign Objectives

Goal 1: Engage and Educate Users About ClubCard

One of the core goals of this campaign was to educate users on the Clicks ClubCard loyalty program. This was achieved through the use of a text carousel card that displayed festive deals, a monthly video showcasing ClubCard benefits, and a quiz to test users’ ClubCard knowledge.

Goal 2: Drive Foot Traffic

We achieved this through the use of our geo check-in feature which motivates users to visit a physical location to earn game points.

Goal 3: Collect/Update Customer Profile Data

This was done through the ‘Code For Coins’ feature that rewards users for providing an email that can be linked to their ClubCard accounts. It also requires users to enter their phone and ClubCard numbers when entering a competition.

Goal 4: Reward Customers

This was accomplished through multiple competitions that were run over the 2-month period.

Purpose of Campaign

The 2023 Clicks ClubCard Festive Rewards campaign focused on enhancing customer engagement by offering an entertaining platform that rewarded Clicks ClubCard members for their loyalty and participation. The campaign aimed to collect customer data and strengthen customer relationships by expressing gratitude for their continued support, while also driving sales during the festive season.

The user acquisition strategy consisted of multiple communication channels such as direct link-outs from the Clicks website, Facebook, Google, Youtube, Firebase Push Notifications, Clicks emails, Clicks leaflets and Instagram.

Results of Campaign

Goal 1: Engage and Educate Users About ClubCard

To achieve this goal, we made use of mechanics such as a text carousel card that displayed festive deals that were active, monthly educational videos showcasing ClubCard benefits and a quiz which tested users' knowledge of Clicks ClubCard program. 

Goal 2: Drive Foot Traffic

With the use of our geo check-in mechanic, we were able to drive users into Clicks stores and participating partner stores. On average, users checked in at various locations more than 3 times. This was considered a huge success as we managed to drive more than a third of the registered users into stores.

Goal 3: Collect/Update Customer Profile Data

Data was collected at three different points throughout the campaign; on sign up, as a form entry activity and when entering a competition. Users consented to marketing terms and conditions that allowed Clicks to increase customer contactability. At the close of the campaign, Hailr managed to collect more than half of registered users’ phone numbers, email addresses and Clicks ClubCard numbers which provided Clicks with valuable insights into their customer base.

Goal 4: Reward Customers

The last and final objective of the Clicks ClubCard Campaign was to reward users for their time and make it known that Clicks genuinely values their customers. We rewarded users with monthly competitions consisting of Clicks and partner branded vouchers such as Kambrook, Switched, Sorbet and Dyson. The number of competition entries received was substantial, with just under one million competition entries in total.


The 2023 Clicks ClubCard Festive Rewards campaign marked another successful collaboration between Hailr and Clicks, leveraging the power of playable advertising to engage with ClubCard members and express gratitude for their loyalty. As the partnership between Hailr and Clicks continues to grow, both companies demonstrate their commitment to delivering unique and engaging experiences for customers while pushing the boundaries of retail marketing innovation in South Africa.

How long does it take to create my web-based app?

Hailr can typically create your app within 6-8 weeks. This estimation varies depending on your campaign goals, available design material and internal approval process.

Do I design the look of my Hailr app?

Our app look-and-feel contains a theme editor and design templates. You have the option to supply our team with the required design elements or brief our designers in creating these for you.

Where is my app hosted, and is there a size limit to my campaign?

All our services exist on our Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) on Amazon Web Services (AWS). There is no size limit to the campaigns we host.

Do I need any app design experience to use Hailr?

No. Our Campaign Managers will assist you in designing the most effective campaign based on your campaign goals and manage the production process for you.

Will I see a preview of my app before going to market?

Yes, we share mockups, followed by a preview link, as part of the production process.

Who owns the data collected during my campaign?

All users who enter the app agree to our platform Ts and Cs. The data is hosted on our platform, but owned by you. You will have exclusive access via a secure, Cloud-based solution.
